Refund Policy

Effective date: May 1, 2025

For refund requests, email contact@msla.net.au or use our contact page.

This Refund Policy outlines the conditions under which refunds may be issued for MSLA memberships and event tickets. Please read this policy carefully before making a purchase.

1. Membership Fees

Membership fees are generally non-refundable once processed. However, MSLA may consider a refund in the following exceptional circumstances:

  • A duplicate payment was made in error
  • A technical error resulted in an incorrect charge
  • Exceptional personal circumstances, subject to approval by the MSLA committee

To request a refund under these circumstances, please contact us at contact@msla.net.au within 14 days of the payment date, providing details of your request.

2. Event Tickets

Each event sets its own refund policy. The organiser of an event — whether MSLA or a partner vendor — chooses the refund window that applies to that event. The chosen policy is shown on the event page (under Good to know → Refund policy) and at checkout, and is the policy that governs any refund request for tickets to that event.

The available event-level policies are:

  • No refunds — tickets are non-refundable from the moment of purchase
  • Up to 7 days before the event — full refund if cancelled at least 7 days before the event start time
  • Up to 30 days before the event — full refund if cancelled at least 30 days before the event start time
  • Until the event starts — full refund any time before the event begins
  • Custom policy — the organiser has set bespoke terms; the exact wording is shown on the event page

If an event page does not display a refund policy, the MSLA platform default applies: a full refund will be issued if you cancel your ticket 5 or more business days before the event date. Cancellations after that window are not eligible for a refund, and no-shows are not refundable.

The following conditions apply to every event, regardless of the policy the organiser has selected:

  • Event cancellation: If an event is cancelled, all ticket holders receive a full refund
  • Event postponement: If an event is postponed, your ticket remains valid for the new date. If you cannot attend the new date, contact the organiser to discuss your options
  • Material changes: If the event's date, time, venue, or core offering changes substantially after you purchase, you may request a refund regardless of the event-level policy
  • Statutory rights: Nothing in an event's refund policy limits any non-excludable rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law

Refund requests for partner-vendor events are reviewed by the vendor in line with the published policy; MSLA acts as a facilitator. Requests for MSLA-run events are reviewed by the MSLA committee.

3. How Refunds Are Processed

Approved refunds will be returned via the original payment method used at the time of purchase. Please allow 7–10 business days for the refund to appear in your account, depending on your bank or payment provider.

Refunds are processed in Australian Dollars (AUD). MSLA is not responsible for any currency conversion differences.
